Explore Series Adventure Races are short-format adventure races designed to be accessible, fast-paced and fun, while still delivering a true adventure racing experience.
Teams navigate an unmarked off-road course, combining running, mountain biking, kayaking and navigation to collect checkpoints and reach the finish line within the 6-hour cut-off.
Explore Series Course Options
There are two course options in an Explore Series Adventure Race: a Full Course and a Half Course.
Both courses are completed in teams of two, using a map and compass to navigate between checkpoints in the correct order.
Full Course
The Full Course is ideal for beginners with a good base level of fitness, as well as experienced adventure racers looking for a shorter, faster and more technical challenge.
Teams will complete multiple legs of running/trekking, mountain biking and kayaking across varied terrain.
Half Course
The Half Course is perfect for families, first-time racers, junior teams, or anyone wanting a fun introduction to adventure racing.
The course is shorter and less physically demanding, while still delivering the full adventure racing experience.

At registration, teams receive:
Two sets of waterproof course maps

Explore Series Format
Explore Series Adventure Races are linear events. All teams begin at Event HQ and navigate through each leg consecutively, completing the course in the order described in the course guide.
At the end of each leg is a Transition Area, where teams change disciplines. Some events may include a bike drop location, with details provided in the event information kit.
Kayaks, paddles and personal flotation devices (PFDs) are typically included in the race entry. Teams may bring their own equipment if preferred.
The winning team in each category is the first pair to cross the finish line having successfully collected all checkpoints in the correct order.
Cut-Offs & Time Limits
Explore Series events have a maximum course time of 6 hours. Teams must complete the course and return to Event HQ before the official cut-off time.
Teams finishing after the cut-off may incur time penalties or be classified as unranked, as outlined in the race rules.
