Race Rules
Wild&Co Race Rules are designed to ensure fair, safe, and consistent competition across all events.
They are purpose-built for adventure racing in Australia, reflecting local conditions, modern equipment, and the team-based nature of the sport.
Our approach
Adventure racing combines endurance, navigation, and teamwork.
Our rules are structured to:
Maintain fairness and integrity of competition
Support safe participation in varied and remote environments
Provide clarity and consistency across events
Enable teams of all experience levels to compete
Our rules are regularly reviewed and refined to stay aligned with how the sport is evolving.
Team-based racing
Wild&Co events are built around teams, and our rules reflect this.
Where possible, rules are designed to minimise disruption and keep teams racing.
For example, if a teammate withdraws and a racer joins another team, that team can remain ranked.
Race Rules by Event Type
24hr+ Events
Wild&Co applies its own Race Rules for 24-hour and expedition-style events.
These rules are designed to support competitive racing while remaining practical, consistent, and suited to Australian conditions.
A designated Race Referee is appointed at each event to adjudicate competition and ensure rules are applied consistently.
3 to 6 Hour Events (Explore Series)
For 3 to 6 hour events, Wild&Co applies a simplified ruleset designed to be clear, practical, and consistent across the series.
Rule compliance
All teams are expected to understand and comply with the applicable Race Rules for their event.
Failure to comply with race rules may result in time penalties, disqualification, or other actions at the discretion of the Race Referee.
Questions
If you are unsure about any aspect of the Race Rules, please contact the Wild&Co team prior to your event.
Mandatory Gear
Race Rules and Mandatory Gear work together.
While the rules define how teams race, the mandatory gear requirements ensure teams are properly equipped for the environment and conditions of each event.
All teams must carry the required mandatory gear for their event.
We strongly recommend reviewing the gear list early when preparing for your race.
